       ~There will be a Fellowship Dinner honoring our graduates after the worship service next Sunday, May 20.  Bring a favorite “pot luck” dish and be a part of the celebration.

       ~Substitute teachers are needed to work with our children (ages 4 – 9) on Wednesday evenings.  Please contact Suellen if you would be willing to serve when there is a need.

         If you know of anyone in our Lake Country Bible Church family who is graduating from high school or college (including graduate degrees), please contact Suellen Holm this week.

       ~Substitute teachers are needed to work with our children (ages 4 – 9) this Wednesday, May 9 and Wednesday, June 6.  Please contact Suellen if you can fill this specific need or if you would be willing to serve as a substitute whenever needed.

April 22, 2012

       ~In honor of the missionary family’s visit with our church body next weekend, there will be a “pot luck” fellowship dinner following the Sunday worship service. Bring a favorite dish that serves your family plus 2 and join together for a time of fellowship.

        In preparation for the dinner on Sunday, helpers are needed to set   up the fellowship hall for the meal. Please meet at 10 a.m. this Friday, April 27 if you are available to help.   

       ~Wood Memorial Nursing Center is having the monthly Birthday Party for residents this Tuesday, April 24 at 3 p.m. If you are interested in helping, meet Cindy at the Center at 2:45 p.m. Come for a fun-filled hour of cake, ice cream, punch, singing and even some dancing! 

       ~The Kindness Kottage quarterly food collection ends this morning. If you have any questions or late donations, contact Cindy.

       ~Numerous books from the church library are currently overdue.  Please check the due dates on any books you may have checked out. The check-out time is six (6) weeks.

There is a need for boxed cereal and all canned vegetables, except beans and corn. However, anything you would like to donate will be gladly accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy.

       ~Part of Women’s Ministries is sending birthday and anniversary cards to our church family. If you would like to take part in helping by sending out cards for a month or by donating cards and stamps, please contact Margaret.

       ~Numerous books from the church library are currently overdue.  Please check the due dates on any books you may have checked out and return those passed due. The check-out time is six (6) weeks. All users of the library are asked to return books in a timely manner for others to enjoy reading.

       ~Do we have a “sweetheart of a deal” for you???  It’s our Valentine Fellowship Dinner next Sunday, February 12 after the worship service.  Our theme is “pot luck favorites.”  Prepare your favorite dish for your family plus two others.  Come and join in this sweet time of fellowship!      

       ~At the annual church business meeting held January 29, 2012, the church voted to accept the proposed changes to the constitution and bylaws and confirmed the nominees for elder, deacons, and treasurer. 

       ~The newly revised constitution and bylaws may be viewed on the church website (www.lakecountrybiblechurch.org).

       ~Ladies, be sure to reserve Saturday, March 10, for our annual day-away retreat.  Details will be coming in the weeks ahead.

       ~Our regular annual church business meeting will be held this morning following the worship service.  The church will vote to accept or decline the proposed changes to the constitution and bylaws and to confirm the nominated elder, deacons, and treasurer. 

       ~Thank you to everyone who participated in the Kindness Kottage food collection!  The turnout was great and they were very grateful.

       ~This Tuesday, January 31 at 3 PM is the monthly Birthday Party for residents at Wood Memorial Nursing Center.  Anyone who would like to help, please meet Cindy at the Nursing Center on Tuesday.

       ~From the Deacon Board…The Deacons have voted to request that anyone making any purchases on behalf of the church, regardless of the amount, first needs to have the proposed expenditure approved by a Deacon. After the purchase is approved then the receipt shall be given to a Deacon and he will forward it to the Treasurer for reimbursement. This procedure is required so that the Deacons can make up-to-the-minute decisions on expenditures for the church and keep a current balance sheet.

       ~New Young Adult Sunday School Class…This class will begin next Sunday, January 8, with a study of the book of James. After church, there will be a lunch meet/greet/eat at Steve and Suellen’s home.  If you have not already spoken to Steve or Suellen, please let them or the pastor know that you are interested in being a part of this group.

       ~Christmas Day Schedule…There will be no Sunday school classes on Christmas Day. The one-hour worship service will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will include singing, a message, and the Lord’s Table.

       ~Poinsettias…Today, those of you who purchased poinsettias may take them with you after the worship service.  Your name and to whom the poinsettia was dedicated is printed on a label inside the gold sleeve. Thank you for your part in making the sanctuary look lovely for the Christmas season.

Participants also ordered baby chicks, dairy goats, weeks of milk for children, and mosquito nets from Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Gift Catalog. Thanks to all who made this one of our best years!

       ~Wood Memorial Nursing CenterAnyone willing to help with activities for the residents is welcome!  Activities include Bingo every Friday at 3:00 p.m.; Saturday Bingo, November 19 at 3:00 p.m.; the monthly Birthday Party, Tuesday, November 29 at 3:00 p.m.; and visitation with the residents. Anyone volunteering will need to fill out some paper work before starting. If you are interested in serving the residents at Wood Memorial through these activities or have any questions about the paper work, contact Cindy.

       ~The pastor’s Sunday school class will host our Christmas Fellowship Dinner on Sunday, December 11, following the worship service. Sign-up sheets are located in the foyer. Since this will be our Christmas Dinner, items that you may choose to bring are listed in keeping with that theme.

       ~Thank you to all who participated in last Saturday’s annual church clean-up day. Your work was greatly appreciated. Several projects were completed inside and outside. There are a few more projects that need to be completed, so if anyone can help, please contact Terry or Debra. Thanks again for a job well done!!      

       ~Wood Memorial Nursing Home…Volunteers are needed to help with the monthly Birthday Party, Tuesday, October 25 at 3 p.m. More volunteers can be used for Bingo held every Friday at 3 p.m.

       ~Christmas poinsettias…To commemorate Christ’s birth and to honor loved ones, red and white poinsettias will be placed in the auditorium again this year. Order forms will be available in the bulletin next week for you to complete and return along with $8.00 for each poinsettia ordered. Checks should be made payable to LCBC. Poinsettias will be displayed in December and dedications will be published in the bulletin December 11 and December 18.  Poinsettias may be picked up after the worship service on December 18 or December 25.

       ~Wood Memorial Nursing Home…Anyone interested in visiting, reading, and going on walks with some of the residents is invited to meet Thursday, October 20 at 10 a.m. at the nursing home to take the grand tour and get acquainted. Volunteers are also needed to help with the monthly Birthday Party, Tuesday, October 25 at 3 p.m. We can always use more volunteers for Bingo, every Friday at 3 p.m.

       ~The Women’s Ministries Board will meet this Tuesday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. All women are invited to attend.

       ~The All-church Workday is next Saturday, October 15th beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please see the insert for a listing of projects and supplies to bring.  Contact Debra or Terry with questions.

      ~The Fall Festival & 2nd Annual Men’s Chili Cook-Off will be Saturday, October 29th from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. You are invited to bring a decorated pumpkin for the “best decorated pumpkin” competition.  Do you play a musical instrument?  If so, bring your instrument and join in an impromptu jam session. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer for those who will be participating in the Chili Cook-Off. Please see Brenda if you have any questions.

     ~This Saturday, October 8 all men are invited to a “Kick-Off” breakfast for the Saturday morning men’s Bible study of Matthew – “How could God’s chosen people fail to recognize Him when He came?” Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. 

     ~Sunshine Ministry volunteers send birthday and anniversary cards from the church to our missionaries and church attendees. If you would like to be a part of this ministry and take a month to send cards, contact Margaret. If you are not receiving a card from the church for these occasions, please let Margaret know. 

     ~Kindness Kottage collection starts this morning and will end next Sunday, October 9. Cooking oil and tea are specifically requested; however, any food items will be gladly received. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy.

             ~Ministry in the Community…Under the umbrella of Child Evangelism Fellowship, a team of volunteers from Lake Country is providing the children’s program for the Mineola chapter of Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS). Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday mornings of the month during the time the mothers meet for their program. A Bible lesson, Scripture memory, gospel spotlight, singing and related activities are included in the curriculum. Volunteers also staff the nursery.

            If you would like to know more about specific needs or desire to be a part of this ministry in the community, please contact Teresa or Donna.

~Wood Memorial…One-on-one visitation, taking walks, and reading to residents will be starting at Wood Memorial.  If there is anyone who did not sign up to help but would like to be part of this ministry, please contact Cindy.

            Volunteers have started helping the residents during the weekly bingo game held on Fridays from 3 to 3:30 p.m.  Anyone is welcome to join in and help.  Also, once a month there is bingo on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Saturday of the month may vary so look for an announcement of the date each month.  If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, contact Neil.

             ~Mercy Ministries…If you would like to be a part of a ministry to visit those that are sick in our church family, please contact Suellen.

            ~Ladies, our fall Bible studies begin this Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. and Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.  If you have not picked up your copy of the study guide from Debra, please do so today.  The cost is $7.00.  Please read and complete the questions in lesson one for our first class.

            ~The Women’s Ministries Board will meet this Tuesday, September 13 at 11 a.m.  All women of the church are welcome to attend.

            ~A new Sunday school class began this morning, September 11, for new members and those interested in the basic beliefs of LCBC.  The class will last for 8 weeks and meets in the first room on the right in the back hall of the classroom addition.
